Roll-up Shutters offer the quick convenience of security and storm protection, not to mention the potential savings on energy costs. These easy-to-use shutters may be raised or lowered manually by hand crank, or automatically at the touch of a button. Roll-ups will increase the overall value of your home or business, and of course, provide peace of mind.

Without doubt, for storm protection, personal security, energy conservation, privacy, and convenience of operation, the rolling shutter is for many Floridians, the device of choice. Rolling shutters are the type that move vertically up or down. They have been used in Europe for over one hundred years. Rolling shutters are operated from inside your home or condominium manually by use of a hand crank, or automatically by use of an electric motor. For simplicity, the description of rolling shutters is in three categories: the upper housing or "box" into which the slats roll; the tracks, which guide and secure the slats; and the slats, which make up the body of the shutter.

Rolling shutters are excellent for controlling sunlight and radiant heating!

Key Points
SLATS: Slats are the horizontal strips which move up or down in rolling shutters. They are interconnected and normally include perforations along the hinge section which can be left open when the shutter is down to allow a free flow of air and light through the slats, or can be closed to fully protect the shuttered area. These openings also allow you to see out while preventing others from seeing in.

EXTRUDED ALUMINUM SLATS: Extruded aluminum slats are usually extruded from 6063-T6 aluminum. Its profile reveals a double wall, the thickness of which is almost twice that of the foam-filled aluminum slat, and is therefore considered the strongest slat available. They are normally available in an ESP baked on finish in assorted colors, and are slightly more expensive than foam-filled aluminum slats but offer superior strength.

STORM BARS: Roll Clean highly recommends "removable" storm bars for larger width roll down shutters (inside/outside mounted). This, combined with a hood stiffener, provides excellent protection against storm and hurricane winds.
